Vafer develops GIS module for optical network planning

After a period of systematic development, the company Vafer has developed a GPON-based GIS module for optical network planning. The module supports automated and optimized high-level optical network planning by reusing existing public infrastructure. The module focuses on the end user, taking into account the shortest possible distances on publicly-owned real-estate and plots, dimensioning the planned network and calculating / assessing the investment costs. A key advantage of such network planning is investment planning of optical networks that is time-optimized, enabling investors, public communications networks operators, to dynamically adjust planned investments to actual on-site conditions and the financial sources available. The use of the tool significantly decreases the time from idea to optical network planning and realization. In the second phase, Vafer’s GEOINdata geoinformation system for analysis, review and statistical treatment of public infrastructure will be upgraded with a GPON-based module for optical network planning. Vafer has developed a tool for analysing data of economic public infrastructure

Vafer has developed an app for the analyzing, displaying and statistical processing the data of economic public infrastructure called GEOINdata. The server-based application for data-entry, overview and data analysis enables the display of geographic data, too. All geographic data is stored in a Postgres/PostGIS database in Geom fields, and the data can be exported in .geojson or .shp format. The application was developed in such a way that all input and final data is protected, and they can only be accessed through http authentication. The application is aimed at operators of electronic communications and investors in the build-out of electronic communications networks. It is based on the use of all official data which is available at present, and which can be complemented by own data regarding electronic communications networks or other facilities owned by the contracting authority. For further information please contact Vafer d.o.o. * The data of economic infrastructure comprises water supply, sewage systems, heat pipes, energy infrastructure, and the infrastructure of electronic communications.
